Avoid Time Consuming Traps In Your Daily Life

I can’t sit down.

In the early mornings I must stick to my routine or it’s easy to get lost and way off track.

I usually fall off track the minute I sit down.

I avoid this by doing my best to complete my morning Zone 2 Cardio routine, grab my coffee and before I am ready to sit down and get to work writing things like this.

It’s not that I avoid sitting down altogether.  I still need to put on socks and shoes.

I am just diligent in staying on task and as soon as that second shoe is on my foot I am up and at it or I will be stuck there for at least 10 minutes staring at the wall.

We all have similar sticking points throughout the day where we know if we give in to the urge it will derail our momentum for some or the rest of the day.  One of the names for that dilemma is called context switching.

Essentially your brain needs to take time to acclimate back to the task at hand if you get distracted with something else and then come back to the main project.

But that is not the only way to get distracted and slow yourself down.  There are plenty of other ways to drain your energy and focus.

Some of them I have experienced in myself or someone else:

-Eat a leftover afternoon donut at the office from the morning event and getting a sugar crash

-Watch TV at 8pm when you’re at your best if you’re in bed by 9

-Sleep in on a day you know the early morning is the only time you truly have complete your fitness goals

Don't let excuses keep you from opportunities to get better and have fun at the same time

I can think of way more and I am sure you can too.  The point of this is not to shame myself or anyone else.  The goal is to show that by being aware of these traps we can start to work to avoid them and regain control of our productivity.  It may seem like overkill to assert that control has been lost when hitting a sticking point but it’s the truth.

When we give in to one of these traps we are often consciously acknowledging (sometimes even out loud) that we are sacrificing something with long term positive ramifications for an immediately gratifying moment with short, and potentially long term, negative ramifications.

What are some traps that you are used to getting stuck in throughout your day?  Not sure how to get out of them and want to some additional help?  Get started with on the best option for you below and take action today!  I allowed traps to narrate my life for far too long and I want to see everyone succeed and achieve their wildest dreams.
